One of the most stressful times of the year is early September when the kids go back to school. Moms look forward to the new routine and kids dread it. I remember stressing out about getting and staying organized. Whether you have one kid or several, finding a system that keeps everyone on track and get them where they need to be is a top priority.
Before the end of the month, set-up an “Organization Station”. Look for a large bulletin board at Goodwill. This one was $3.99 (the original tag was $9.99 from a big box store!).
Gather scrapbook or wrapping paper, markers in a variety of colors, glue stick, thumb tacks and a stapler.
Divide the board by the number of kids you have. I chose a different paper for each to keep their spaces separate. Be sure to label each section with their names.
Tack a folder on the bottom for each. You need a place for notes and homework, permission slips, lunch menus, etc.
The calendar is a family’s life-line. Keep it attached to your Organization Station, so everyone knows what’s going on for the month.
This is my best organization tip:
Choose a colored marker for each kid. It makes for quick reference. “Jake” is red, so he knows anything written in red applies to him. “Cody” is blue, etc. Make sure you have a color too, Mom, and one for the family. So simple and very smart.
